Being in a motor vehicle accident (MVA) can be a very traumatic experience, and our goal is to help you return to a normal life, as soon as possible.
An MVA can cause a variety of injuries to both the driver and any passengers. Some injuries, such as broken limbs, are obvious. Others, such as soft-tissue injuries or whiplash, are less visible with some symptoms not appearing immediately, sometimes several days after an accident.
After a motor vehicle accident, your central nervous system can become overexcited, and with good reason! You have suffered a traumatic and unexpected experience. When our bodies go through traumatic events, it can create a ‘central sensitization’ - a process where pain itself modifies the way the central nervous system works, so that a patient actually becomes more sensitive and gets more pain with less provocation. When this happens, normal stimuli become painful - even without tissue damage, or after the tissues have healed. This process can create chronic pain, and it is very important to work with a healthcare team to get healthy again. Car accident injuries can lead to a lifetime of chronic pain if not dealt with immediately after. Your car insurance should cover part/all of your physiotherapy treatments, although it is the law in New-Brunswick to use your private insurance first.
Work Related Injuries
St-Antoine Physio Vie Active is listed as an apporoved service provider for Worksafe NB. Work related injuries can go from a traumatic injury (ex: fracture, sprain) to an overuse injury (ex: carpal tunnel, chronic neck pain).
To make a claim with Worksafe NB, you must report your injury at work, as well as go consult a physician, who will refer you for physiotherapy treatments (if applicable). From there, you should be assigned to a case worker, and get a claim number. With this information, we can process your physiotherapy claim and start treatments.
It is important to start this process as soon as possible. The faster we start treating an injury, the more chance of success.
